Preparing for the CSET
The Liberal Studies Program is continuously seeking ways to assist students prepare for the rigorous California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET): Multiple Subjects exam. Through a partnership with the Accelerated Subject-matter Acquisition Program (ASAP), Liberal Studies students at CSUSB will soon have an affordable option to prepare for the CSET. ASAP offers a series of CSET preparation workshops that have helped numerous individuals prepare and pass the CSET.
Preparation workshops are held Saturdays on the CSUSB campus for all three subtests: one day specific to Subtest I (English/history), two days specific to Subtest II (science/mathematics), and one day specific to subtest III (Physical Education/Human Development/Visual and Performing Arts). The usual registration fee for attending these preparation workshops is $55 per day, however, through this partnership current Liberal Studies students will be able to attend the workshops for as low as $20 per day. CSET preparation workshops may be available as early as June 2010. Visit the Accelerated Subject-matter Acquisition Program website for the workshop schedule.
How it Works
Currently enrolled Liberal Studies students will need to pick up a Preparation Agreement form from the Liberal Studies program office (CE-114) prior to attending any preparation workshop. Students will be required to pay a registration fee of $40 per day. Students who take the CSET exam and provide their scores to the Liberal Studies Department within a designated period of time will be refunded $20 of their original fee. Students’ test scores will be secured in the Liberal Studies program office to ensure confidentiality and anonymity. Aggregated test scores will be used to examine program effectiveness in preparing CSUSB students for the CSET.Please contact the Liberal Studies program office at (909) 537-5857 for more information.
